Advent Calendar Day 2: The Branch of Righteousness
"Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will perform that good thing which I have promised unto the house of Israel and to the house of Judah. In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land" (Jer 33:14-15 KJV).

What is the good thing that the Lord promised to the houses of Israel and Judah? (33:14). He answered this question in the next verse. The good thing comes with the restoration of the Davidic monarchy from a descendant who will rule over the houses of Israel and Judah (v.15). The Lord foretold of an eschatological promise He will give to Israel through the Branch of righteousness, Jesus the Messiah.--The King who will do wisely and execute justice and righteousness in the land (Jer 23:5 AMP).

Yet, Israel did not accept Jesus as their Messiah. Paul likened them to branches broken off from an olive tree because they rejected the fulfilled Branch of righteousness (Rom 11:17). After Jesus' resurrection, the coming Branch became the Vine. He engrafts His disciples into the vine as branches (John 15:1-8).
Many today, Jews and Gentiles alike, have not recognized the good thing fulfilled in Jesus as the Messiah, God manifested in flesh. Would you join me in praying for release of souls to come to Jesus from the east and the west, the north and the south?
